Satin

satin

Satin is a real pleasure for the body. It is a material that literally gives another meaning to the word comfort. You can recognize it by the touch and by the "satin" shine of the fabric.

China is considered to be the birthplace of satin, and its popularity has grown very quickly. The high durability of the fabric makes it ideal for making clothes and luxury satin bed linen.

Actually, this material is made from pure mercerized cotton (only if it is real satin!). The word mercerized comes from the technology by which it is obtained, namely the addition of caustic soda under high pressure to the cotton. This chemical process produces the shine and the strength of the material.

Satin is extremely resistant to washing as long as reactive dyeing of the fabric is used, which allows the pigmentation to reach the depth of the threads.

The other type of coloring is superficial, which is not resistant to washing, but usually this is not true satin.

Advantages and disadvantages of Satin:

1.Extremely high density - up to 190 threads per square meter.

2.Resistant to frequent washing and ironing, which means it does not wear out for a long time.

3. Fabric that ventilates perfectly. Although it is very dense, satin allows air to pass through it.

4. Does not cause allergies (Only if made of 100% cotton).

Very often satin can be mistaken for our so-called silk, but satin does not cool our skin like silk. This makes it a good solution for sewing pajamas, for example.

I don't want to talk about flaws, because in practice satin has no flaws. I can only point out its high price, but for connoisseurs of nice and quality things, this is not a problem, because in the end even imitations are already expensive.

The price, of course, also depends on the type of satin.Let's see what varieties there are:

1. Ordinary satin - the cheapest option. Its low price is due to the number of threads in its composition

2. Another popular type of satin is jacquard type satin. Its high density makes it extremely resistant to chemical and physical processes.

3. Silk satin is a relatively new material. It is suitable for sewing clothes or curtains and belongs to a higher class material.

There are many more varieties of this fabric, such as satin velvet, thin satin or glossy satin. Specialists do not stop experimenting with this special fabric, adding different impurities to it. The goal is to create a perfect modification of satin.

As we said above, satin is extremely pleasant to the touch. Pleasant tactile sensations are due to its structure, and therefore this material is used very often in the sewing of luxury underwear.
